Remedial massage is suitable for most adults. If you have any medical conditions or are unsure whether treatment is appropriate, please contact Tanith before booking.
Remedial massage is effective for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and shoulder tension from desk work or poor posture, lower back pain, sports injuries such as muscle strains and sprains, repetitive strain injuries, sciatica and referred pain, headaches related to muscle tension, and post-operative recovery (where appropriate).
Before treatment begins, Tanith will take a brief case history to understand your symptoms and any relevant medical history. The treatment itself will focus on the affected areas, using a combination of deep pressure, cross-fibre friction, and myofascial release techniques. You may experience some discomfort during treatment as adhesions are worked on, but this is normal and should ease afterwards.
It is common to feel some soreness for 24–48 hours after a remedial massage, similar to the feeling after exercise. Drinking plenty of water afterwards is recommended. Most patients notice a significant improvement in mobility and a reduction in pain within one to two sessions.
